Marco Merola<\/h3>

Marco Merola became a professional journalist in 1998. Since then, he has been extensively working on science and science communication, with a particular focus on repercussions of new technologies in the global economy. He has been author of reportages for several international magazines (GEO, National Geographic, Focus, BBC Science, Sciences et Avenir, Muy Interesante, Illustreret Videnskab and italian weekly magazines SETTE of Il Corriere della sera and Venerd\u00ec of La Repubblica).<\/p>\n

As a freelance journalist Merola also had chance to extensively travel in Europe, Middle East, South America and Africa for reporting in poor countries and describe technology novelties easing the life of the modern man.
\nFrom January 2013 to December 2016 he has been the Communications manager for several scientific projects of the Seventh Framework Programme of the EU on behalf of University of Rome La Sapienza.
\nOn November 2016 Merola has been hired by Italian Government to lead Communications office of prestigious National Committee for Biosafety, Biotechnologies and Life Sciences. While, in 2017 and 2018 he hold the same position in the EASME project \"ARCHEOSUb\" and in the italian company WSENSE srl.
\nIn 2019 he has been hired as a Communications manager by Centro E. Piaggio of University of Pisa.
\nHis work is now specially focusing on promoting scientific researchs, technologies and ventures towards medias and other stakeholders. Sustainable economy and climate change adaptation are the key concepts which drive his job.
\nIn June 2017 he has run in Ca\u2018 Foscari University<\/em> of Venice a workshop aiming at enhancing local scientists and academic researchers\u2019 communication capabilities. In that occasion Merola has also launched a huge science journalism project related to climate change topics in collaboration with the Venice Centre for Climate Studies. Such project titled \u201cAdaptation\u201d<\/em> www.adaptation.it aims at describing the way humans are already adapting to climate change, either from a social or technological perspective.<\/p>\n

Merola is a TEDx speaker, author of several successful podcast series as an AMAZON Audible\u2019s talent, and he also gives each year dozen of talks in international Festivals, conventions and Universities.
\nFurthermore, he teaches \u201cClimate change compliance reporting and communication\u201d at the 2nd Level Master on Climate change adaptation and mitigation solutions of the Polytechnic University of Turin and also \u201cWebDoc and advanced journalistic storytelling in the digital environment\u201d at the 2nd Level Master on Science communication of the University of Siena.

Marco Barretta<\/h3>

Marco Barretta is a filmmaker and photo reporter, with active collaboration with WWF, The Guardian and other media and organisations. His focus is on the protection of European habitats and the social impact of climate change and environmental degradation, particularly on Europe. Among the others, Barretta is an author of the photographic and video content for \u201cAdaptation\u201d, a multimedia project on adaptation to climate change in the style of constructive journalism. Barretta is now working on the documentary series \u201cHabitat\u201d \u2013 12 episodes concerning social and scientific efforts to protect key ecosystems across different European countries, from the Azores archipelago to the Norwegian Svalbard islands. Barretta is also a professional drone pilot, Google Maps certified photographer and a Director of Photography. Eager to experiment with new communication and storytelling languages, he is also a writer of graphic novels for national and international publishers.
